Constitutional Amendment Update

Resolution 2026-145 requests a secretarial election on proposed constitutional amendments and places the decision to update the tribe’s Constitution in the hands of Sault Tribe membership. The resolution will be sent to the BIA by June 19 and then the BIA will begin the federal election process. Linked below are the Resolution 2026-145 and the Attached Amended Constitution drafts. Licensed day care providers are needed to provide daycare to Sault Tribe children.

All tribally-licensed day care providers are eligible for the same child care payments that are provided to day care providers licensed by the state of Michigan.

Criteria for Child Day Care Licensing with the Child Development Fund include residency on Sault Tribe reservation or lands in trust and compliance with federal and tribal child daycare licensing guidelines.

This fund provides supportive financial services for day care and respite to families involved with children’s protective services and foster parents.
