Constitutional Amendment Update

Resolution 2026-145 requests a secretarial election on proposed constitutional amendments and places the decision to update the tribe’s Constitution in the hands of Sault Tribe membership. The resolution will be sent to the BIA by June 19 and then the BIA will begin the federal election process. Linked below are the Resolution 2026-145 and the Attached Amended Constitution drafts. Program Objective

The Tribal Emergency Assistance is available to Sault Tribe members who are faced with an unexpected emergency situation that is of no fault of their own including but not limited to homelessness or living in sub-standard housing, unexpected medical travel, fire.

Applications are not available online as the member in need must be assessed by a Direct Assistance Case Manager.

To determine eligibility, the following must submit the following information:

  • Sault Tribe household
  • Social Security Card(s)
  • Verification of Cost/Estimate
  • Income for the past 12 months

To be considered for Emergency Assistance, a member may call the Direct Assistance Case Manager in their area, or call 800‑726‑0093.
