The eighth annual Recovery Walk is on Thursday, Sept. 27. Sault Tribe’s Recovery Walks are meant to bring together our community to raise awareness of substance abuse and mental health disorders, to celebrate those in recovery and spread hope that those struggling can and will recover.

This year’s Recovery Walk in the Sault is a collaboration between Sault Tribal Court, Sault Tribe Behavioral Health and Families Against Narcotics (FAN). Shirts begin to be distributed at 3:30 p.m., with opening drum at 4:15 p.m. and our speakers at 4:30 p.m. This year’s shirts highlight the Detroit Red Wings’ colors, red with white print, in recognition of one of our speakers, Ken Daniels, the voice of the Red Wings who will share his personal story of tragedy and recovery.

Our second speaker is Judge Linda Davis, co-founder and executive president of FAN. They both speak at 4:30 p.m. in front of Marquette Hall at St. Isaac Jogues.

The walk begins promptly at 5 p.m. at St. Isaac Joques Church and proceeds to the Big Bear where pizza and salad will be provided. Both guest speakers speak at length later in the evening at 6:30 p.m. at LSSU.
A Kewadin shuttle bus begins transporting back and forth from the front of the Big Bear to St. Isaac Jogues at 3:15 p.m. At 5:30 p.m., they transport to LSSU as well.
