On June 10, at the Joseph K. Lumsden School in Sault Ste. Marie at 1301 Marquette Ave., School Superintendent Theresa Kallstrom looks on as Schoolboard President Isaac McKechnie (L-R) signs a 36-month lease with the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians. The tribe approved the lease at its May 19 board of directors meeting. "On behalf of the schoolboard, I would like to express our gratitude for the continued support of the school," said McKechnie. The lease gives the school the ability to rent the facility from the tribe to run the K-8 school. "For the next three years we have a home," McKechnie said. "We look forward to continuing a positive relationship with the tribe and community."
