SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. — The Sault Tribe Board of Directors will hold a regular meeting Tuesday, Aug. 9, at 6:00 p.m. at the Kewadin Casino and Convention Center, Sault Ste. Marie. The meeting will be preceded by Matters from the Membership at 5:00 p.m.
First on the agenda is a motion for “Interim Chairperson Appointment.” Under Resolutions, the board will consider “Promise Neighborhoods Grant,” “Funding for Treaty Rights Protection Appellate Court Case” and 2011 budget modifications for “Nunn’s Creek Rehab Hatchery,” “ACFS – Advocacy Resource Center,” “Big Bear – Pro Shop” and “Enterprise Capital Expenditures – Midjim Sault.” Under New Business, the board will consider an Inland Conservation Request, Relinquishments and Committee Resignations / Appointments.

Constitutional Amendment Update
Resolution 2026-145 requests a secretarial election on proposed constitutional amendments and places the decision to update the tribe’s Constitution in the hands of Sault Tribe membership. The resolution will be sent to the BIA by June 19 and then the BIA will begin the federal election process. Linked below are the Resolution 2026-145 and the Attached Amended Constitution drafts.
