Human Trafficking awareness international bridge walk


Grandmothers from tribes on both sides of the St. Mary's River will walk across the International Bridge on Saturday morning to protest human trafficking. PACT - Persons Against the Crime of Trafficking in Humans - is sponsoring the Oct. 1 event to bring awareness to the international issue of trafficking for sexual exploitation.

The walk begins at 9 a.m. at LSSU Parking Lot A and ends at the Sault Ste. Marie Indian Friendship Center at 122 East St., Sault, Ontario, about 5 miles. Walkers must pre-register for the walk to make arrangements for crossing the border. The walk will take place rain or shine. The Friendship Center will offer refreshments and snacks following the walk.
