SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - A decision was issued today in the removal proceeding brought against Director Rita Glyptis (Unit V - Munising). The Hearing Board ruled in favor of the tribal members who petitioned for the removal and has ordered that Director Glyptis is removed from her position effective immediately.
An open hearing was conducted on Dec. 3, 2015, in which the hearing board considered a petition that Glyptis should be removed for being convicted in Tribal Court, in violation of Chapter 16 of the Tribal Code, Removal from Office.
The Constitution requires the Board of Directors to appoint a tribal member to fill the vacant unit director seat.
