2018 SSM PowwowThe 37th annual Sault Tribe Traditional Powwow and Summer Gathering, Miinaadendimowin Anishnaabe Bimaadiziwin Bawaatiog Jingtamok, “Respecting our way of life at Bawaating” is scheduled for July 13‑15 at the tribe's powwow grounds off of Shunk Road on Ice Circle. Blessing of the grounds is on Tuesday, July 10, spiritual gathering is on Thursday, July 12. Festivities begin on July 13 with a kid's carnival from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Open drum and dance at 7 p.m. Grand entries on Saturday, July 14, at 1 and 7 p.m. with a traditional feast at 5 p.m. and a hand drum contest at 6 p.m. Grand entry on Sunday, July 15 is at noon. This year’s celebration features singing specials, dance specials, jackpot spot dances and much more.

Admission is free and open to the public. Camping available on a first-come, first-served basis, showers and restroom available on-site.
