DESCRIPTION:Bahweting Jiibay Wiikongewin (Ghost Feast) Oct. 30Bahweting Jiibay Wiikongewin (Ghost Feast) will be held Friday, Oct. 30, at the Niigaanagiizhik Ceremonial Building, 11 Ice Circle in Sault Ste. Marie. Doors Open at 5 p.m. and attendees will be given directions at check-in.It's that time of year to honor and feast our ancestors and loved ones again here in Bahweting. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, we will be offering an opportunity for community members to participate in a walk through ceremony. Following CDC recommended COVID-19 Safety Precautions, community members will be able to check-in and pick up pre-packaged feast plates, ceremonial food offerings, and medicine ties prepared by the Language and Culture Department staff. Practicing safe social distancing, attendees will be allowed to enter the waazhiim (lodge) one person at a time to make their offerings to the misho shkode (grandfather fire), and then proceed to the parking lot.For more information, call 906-635-6050 or email jbiron@saulttribe.net or svandyke@saulttribe.net.
