Tribal Court hosts VAWA conference

Sault Ste. Marie Chippewa Tribal Court, with the support of Uniting Three Fires Against Violence, is hosting the conference, “VAWA: Where are we at? Where are we going” April 23 through 24. Professionals who should consider attending this conference about the Violence Against Women Act are tribal leaders, tribal court staff, tribal law enforcement, tribal prosecutors, tribal law makers, victim advocates, behavioral health and social services.
 
The conference will be hosted in the Grand Ball Room if Sault Kewadin Casino and Convention Center. The first day is 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. and the second day is 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
 
Presentations will include topics on VAWA implementation, federal and tribal prosecution, healing and a survivor panel.
