An evening with the Askwiths

Mark your calendars! The Pickford Community Library will host a literary and musical celebration of pre-Civil War America with "An Evening with the Askwiths" on Tuesday, May 29 at 6:30 pm. Leslie and Richard Askwith will be performing Leslie's short story, "A Band in Himself – the 1850s Musical Life of Teen-ager Charles Morris Cobb." Susan Askwith will accompany on fiddle with music from the period.

This evening of word and song will provide an introduction to Leslie's new book, "Thunderstruck Fiddle," which is based on Charles Morris Cobb's journal accounts of his life as a teenage musician in 1850s America.

Refreshments will be provided by the Enlightened Page-Turners book club.
