Antique Wooden Boat Show

Les Cheneaux Island Antique Wooden Boat Show and Festival of the Arts is on Aug. 11, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Hessel Public Marina.

The show has been a major attraction since it began in 1978 and averages 150 entries each year. It is one of the largest shows featuring antique and classic wooden boats. Some of the country’s finest boats call the beautiful Les Cheneaux Islands home.

Entries arrive each August from as far away as California and Florida. Types of vessels include dinghies, rowboats, canoes, launches, sailboats, utilities, runabouts, large cruisers and racers.

The Festival of Arts is conducted in conjunction with the boat show. Artists display and sell a variety of artwork, including photographs, paintings, pottery, textiles, glass jewelry, dolls, wood toys and many other items. Around 70 of the midwest's finest artists participate in this juried show.
