If you are in suicidal crisis or emotional distress, or if you are concerned about someone you care about, the STAY Project encourages you to call the 24-hour National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at (800) 273-TALK, or (800) 273-8255, and you will be routed to the crisis center closest to you.

Sault Tribe Alive Youth (STAY) Project is a new program that was made available when the Sault Tribe received a substantial grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to work on preventing suicides and attempts for youth ages 10-24 across the seven-county service area.

If you have any questions or if you would like to join us in our efforts, please contact the STAY staff at (906) 635-8629 or e-mail This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

SAMHSA is also supporting the 35th Annual National Suicide Prevention Week, Sept. 6‑12, 2009. Sponsored by the American Association of Suicidology, the purpose of National Suicide Prevention Week is to raise awareness that suicide can be prevented.

SAMHSA also has a number of suicide prevention materials, free to order or download, to help you support suicide prevention efforts in your community.
