Sugar Island Powwow upcoming
This year’s Sugar Island Powwow is Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 4 and 5 preceded by a spiritual gathering on Sept. 3 from noon to 6 p.m. Grand entry is Saturday at 1 and 7 p.m. and Sunday at noon.
A feast will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday — please bring a dish to pass. From 9 to 11 a.m. on Sunday there will be a tour of Gem Isle — our elders from Sugar Island want to share our history and visit our ancestors. A hand drum competition is also planned.
Head Veteran is Graz Shipman. Head Male Dancer is Abe Bouschor and Head Female Dancer is Priscilla Pine. Host Drum is Elk Spirit. This year’s Master of Ceremonies is Jody Gaskin and Arena Director is Don Silva.
