Senior Project FRESH provides qualifying seniors with coupons to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at Michigan farmers markets and roadside stands. The program is open to seniors 60 and older with a total monthly household income of less than $1,859 for one person or $2,503 for two persons. Senior Project FRESH coupons available across the seven-county service area include:

Chippewa County—Senior Project FRESH coupons will be handed out at two locations in Chippewa County on a first-come, first-served basis: on Tuesday, June 6, 8:30-9:30 a.m. at the Bay Mills Senior Center (12140 W. Lakeshore Drive, Brimley) and on Thursday, June 8, at 11 a.m. at the Bayliss Public Library. Call the MSU Extension office at 906-635-6368 if you have any questions. If you are handicapped and unable to attend the meeting, contact our office for a proxy form so someone else can pick up the coupons for you.

Schoolcraft County—The Manistique Senior Center offers the Senior Project FRESH coupons for Schoolcraft County. We have a total of 100 coupons to give away on a first-come basis. The senior center distributes them on Wednesdays and Thursdays between the hours of 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. until they are gone.

Marquette County— The Senior Market Fresh coupons for Marquette County will be distributed by area senior centers in Marquette, Negaunee, Ishpeming, Gwinn, and Rock. Seniors should call the senior center of the area they live in to get a coupon book. Coupon books and information will be delivered to senior centers this week and next week. Seniors may want to call to check whether the center has the coupons and their procedure before they go.

Delta County — Distribution is set for Tuesday, June 6, at 10 a.m. at the Escanaba Senior Center (Civic Center in Escanaba).

Mackinac County — Distribution is set for July 3 at the St. Ignace Tribal elders’ meal. Another at the St. Ignace Community Action is pending. Distribution at the Engadine senior meal site is June 28 and July 5 at the Cedarville/Clark Twp senior meal.

Luce County — Distribution of Senior Market Fresh coupons in Luce County is set for June 30 at the Newberry Community action from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
