Sault Tribe Hosts Drug Take Back Day at Health Centers
SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The Sault Tribe Health Division, in conjunction with Sault Tribe Law Enforcement, is hosting a National Drug Take Back Day at the Sault Tribe Health Centers on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
"The purpose of this event is to collect unwanted and unused prescription medications and to get unwanted, unused and dangerous medications out of homes and properly disposed of," said Robert Marchand, Sault Tribe Chief of Police. Properly disposing of the unwanted and unused prescription pills prevents theft, possibility of abuse, accidents, and the introduction of drugs into sewer and water systems, which poses a potential problem to our environment.
Participating Health Centers are the Sault Ste. Marie Tribal Health Center in Sault Ste. Marie and the Grand Island Community Center in Munising.
Medication drop off is anonymous with no questions asked. For more information, please contact Sault Tribe Police Department at (906) 635-6065 or Sault Tribe Health Center at (906) 632-5200.
