Spiritual Ceremony in Hessel Nov. 5
Honoring Mother Earth, a Gathering of the Opwaaganag (Pipes) Spiritual Ceremony, will be held Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Hessel Tribal Center and Hessel Powwow Grounds. The event is open to the public. A set of the world’s largest pipes will be on display. Activities planned are a sunrise ceremony, cultural teachings, crafts, drumming and singing, and a pot luck dinner at 5 p.m.
The gathering is for all personal and community opwaaganag (pipes). Honoring Mother Earth is sponsored by Mukkwa Giizhek Community Committee and Sault Tribe Youth and Activities Program-Hessel.
