2011 Migratory Bird Season and Bag Limits

SEASON DATES:

DUCKS, MERGANSERS, COMMON SNIPE: Sept. 15 - Dec. 31

GEESE, COOT, GALLINULE, SORA & VIRGINIA RAILS: Sept. 1 - Dec. 31. In addition, any portion of the ceded territory which is open to state-licensed hunters for goose hunting after December 1 shall also be opened concurrently for tribal members.

WOODCOCK: Sept. 2 - Dec. 1

MOURNING DOVE: Sept. 1- Nov. 14

DAILY BAG LIMITS:

DUCKS: 20, (5) canvasbacks, (10) merganser, (5) black ducks, (5) wood ducks, and (10) mallards (only 5 of which may be hens)

MERGANSERS: 10 (all species in aggregate)

COOTS & COMMON MOORHENS (COMMON GALLINULES): 20 in the aggregate

CANADA GEESE & OTHER GEESE: 20 in the aggregate

WOODCOCK: 10

SORA & VIRGINIA RAILS: 20 in the aggregate

COMMON SNIPE: 16

MOURNING DOVE: 10

POSSESSION LIMITS:

Possession limits are double the daily bag limit, except for rails, for which the possession limit equals the daily bag limit (20). On the opening day of the season, the possession limit equals the daily bag limit.

 

SHOOTING HOURS:

One-half hour before sunrise to One-half hour after sunset

 

* With the exception of shooting hours Sault Tribe members are required to comply with regulations in 50 CFR part 20  including the use of non-toxic shot.
