Tuition-Free BMCC Classes for Spring 2012 Semester
NA 125 History and Organization of Michigan Tribes (4 cr hrs)
Mondays 5-8:50 p.m. at LSSU Native American Center, SSM. The first day of class is January 16. This course will examine the history of Michigan Indian Tribes (past and present) and their chronological relationship with federal and state Governments. Overviews of tribal histories will include the Chippewa, Ottawa, Potawatomi, Menominee, Huron, Sac & Fox and Miami tribes. Instructor is Stephanie Sabatine. You register for this course on the first day of class.
EC 108 Competencies and Best Practices in Children and Family Programs II (3 cr hrs)
Tuesdays 6-8 p.m. at ITC 2956 Ashmun Street, SSM. First day of class is January 17, 2012. The second of three courses that will prepare students for the CDA (Child Development Assicate) competency exam. This course will give students resource materials, a basic foundation of knowledge, and hands-on experience in ways to nurture cognitive, motor, language and creative process skills in children. Prerequisites: EC 107 with a C or better or with permission of instructor. Instructor is Holly Wilkins.
These two classes listed above are offered to Sault Tribe members, Sault Tribe employees and employees of JKL Bahweting Public School Academy. Students are responsible for a $30 registration fee plus $10 per credit hour fee and the cost of any books. Students will be billed by BMCC for the fees.
