Answer
At what age does one qualify for Elder benefits?
For most purposes, you are considered an Elder at age 55. However while Elders qualify for many benefits, you do not receive Elder Benefit Checks until you have attained age 60. In the year that you turn 60 years old, you will receive an Elder Survey from the Enrollment Department. This must be filled out and returned in order to qualify for benefits. Elder benefit checks are always mailed in January, for the previous year. So, if you turn 60 this October, you must fill out the survey, return it, and in January of 2006 you would receive a check for your Elder Benefits.
