Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA): The Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA) is Title I of the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act of 2006. SORNA is a set of mandatory minimum standards for all jurisdictions, including federally recognized tribes in the United States. The law was enacted to help close some jurisdictional loopholes and to strengthen the nationwide network of sex offender registration and notification programs.
