Veterans History Project visits Sault Ste. Marie area
The Veterans History Project is coming to Sault Ste. Marie to interview Vietnam veterans from June 24 to July 1. Interviews to be conducted in Sault Ste. Marie and Brimley, Mich. Exact locations to be determined.
The Library of Congress’ Veterans History Project collects, preserves and makes accessible personal accounts of American war veterans so future generations may hear directly from veterans and better understand the realities of war. Its Vietnam War project covers the 1961 to 1975 period. Our veterans’ personal stories provide a richer picture of an important historical period and are invaluable to informing the public about our history.
Kanava International is assisting the Department of Defense to identify Vietnam veterans in the Upper Peninsula who are interested in participating in the Vietnam War interviews.
A team from the Department of Defense will be in the local area during June 24 to July 1, 2016 to interview men and women who served in the Vietnam War. As a special opportunity, Joe Galloway, author (with Lt. Gen. Harold Moore) of We Were Soldiers Once . . . and Young and We Are Soldiers Still, will conduct some of these interviews.
Please support this important opportunity for area Vietnam Veterans to tell their stories.
