Native American festival - St. Ignace

Ojibwa Museum scheduled its fourth annual Native American Festival for May 23 at the museum grounds in St. Ignace beginning at 8 a.m. with a sunrise ceremony.

Demonstrations and workshops start at 10 a.m., ending around 12:30 p.m., with black ash basketry, dreamcatchers, brain tanning, porcupine quillwork and kids’ crafts, cultural teachings and storytelling.

A powwow takes place from 1 to 6 p.m. with a grand entry at 1 p.m.

Sunday Mass at 9 a.m. on May 24 will take place at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church, 120 Church Street in St. Ignace. Father Marquette’s chalice will be used at the mass. The Grandmother Moon Singers will be singing and drumming.

All events are free and everyone is welcome to attend!
